MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Welcome to The Center for Lupus Care - we're so glad you decided to visit our website.  CLC operates with a mission to educate everyone, especially the underserved in Los Angeles County, about Lupus.

A typical sign of lupus is a red, butterfly-shaped rash over your cheeks and nose, often following exposure to sunlight. No two cases of lupus are exactly alike. Signs and symptoms may come on suddenly or develop slowly, may be mild or severe, and may be temporary or permanent.

WORKING FOR A CURE

To raise awareness and educate the public about Lupus - specifically, lupus patients in underserved communities of Los Angeles County by providing advocacy, case management, counseling, and other resources.

LIVING WITH THE WOLF & SURVIVING LUPUS

Founder Liz Shaw-Stabler Writes Her First Book

Growing up in Marshall, a small town in East Texas, Liz Shaw-Stabler had dreams of becoming a supermodel. Although she experienced many puzzling symptoms during childhood, it wasn’t until her early 30s that Liz suspected something might be seriously wrong with her health.

Seeking answers, she ventured to the famous Mayo Clinic and was officially introduced to her nemesis – Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. Armed with a diagnosis, Liz set out to tame this wolf and reclaim her life, determined to help others also suffering from lupus along the way.

Living with the Wolf and Surviving Lupus is Liz’s story - from growing up on a small farm, to surviving race riots in Chicago, to motherhood, and finally to starting her own haven for lupus patients: the Center for Lupus Care. If you or a loved one suffers from lupus, then this book is a must-read. It not only offers insight into this deadly disease, but also gives proof that you can survive Living with the Wolf.
